Peter H. Ganten studied Psychology, worked as author and led a couple of projects related to open source software before he founded Univention in 2001. Since then he helped to make Univention to one of the leading european companies offering open source software products for b2b.
Since 2007 Ganten is also involved in the leadership of industry alliances,first as a board member of Linux Verband e.V. and since 2011 as the chairman of the board of the [Open Source Business Alliance](http://www.osb-alliance.de/), the leading open source organization in the german speaking countries, which brings together vendors, service providers, users and scientific organizations.
