Fabien Castan

Unknown, Ubisoft Motion Pictures

Graduated from IMAC engineering school (Image Multimedia Audiovisual and Communication), Fabien is fascinated by all the aspects of image. He is very attentive to user experience that artists are looking for in creation softwares. At DuranDuboi, he worked on an internal compositing software in which he notably added the OpenFX support. He made developments for the commercial software Nuke as well as tools for production pipeline. He was also responsible for a research project in collaboration with INRIA and IRIT to do realtime onset matchmoving (3D reconstruction and real-time compositing). For 2 years, he has been working at Ubisoft Motion Pictures on a storytelling tool (storyboard, animatic, layout) with video and 3D non-linear editing capabilities. He works on TuttleOFX since its inception.

Graduate with an audiovisual professional master's degree and a research master's degree in telecommunications at the University of Valenciennes, Marc-Antoine focused on optimizing the H.264 video encoding in the laboratory of the Ecole Centrale of Paris and Telecom Paris Tech, as part of Sebastian2 research project.

He joined the R&D of Mikros Image in 2011 and since then participated to various projects on image and sound signal processing and file management for broadcast formats.

He also took part in the development of an application for encoding and sending advertisements in Belgium . He ‘s an active contributor to the task force regarding the generation of a central exchange file for broadcast mastering. One of his current projects is to include a validation, potentially corrective, of the loudness in short programs on the Belgian dematerialization project, also used internally at Mikros Image. He is one of the main contributors to TuttleOFX project ( an open source image batch processing tool).
