Engaging Extension in Health Care Reform: Connecting the Dots at the Community Level

A session at Priester National Health Extension Conference

The overall goal of this seminar is explore the reasons for, and ways that Extension can become engaged in health reform at the community level. With a presence in nearly every county, Extension represents a unique national outreach system potentially able to assist with health reform. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) lays the groundwork for community-based prevention and community-based approaches which are common methods for Extension. This seminar will discuss ACA highlights and explore current and potential avenues, interventions and collaborations for Extension’s engagement in health reform and Healthy People 2020. Participants will be encouraged to share ideas and experiences.
