Wednesday 17th April, 2013
9:40am to 10:40am
Goals of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 include containing costs, reducing the number of uninsured and underinsured, and promoting health outcomes. A key provision is the creation of a Health Benefit Exchange in each state where individuals and small employers can purchase affordable health coverage that meets minimum benefits standards. The State of Vermont is launching an outreach and education plan to create awareness of the new role of the Exchange in the State’s health care system. Using Vermont as a framework, this presentation will discuss opportunities for Extension to be involved these educational efforts.
