How can a (smart) system earn the trust of it’s human operators?

A session at Rubyslava / PyVo #33 - Data Mining Edition

This kind of trust is essential once the system starts doing anything non-trivial under the hood and starts to look like magic to the user. A user will advocate for a system that does the good magic like Dumbledore. Conversely, a user will hate you or ignore you if the trust has been shattered.

Come to Rubyslava and learn how I tried to build some good magic into the recommender engines at IBM Research and Google.
