Sheffield Test Gathering

An informal gathering of people involved in or interested in software testing and QA

14 May 2013

Currently in read only mode, sorry about that, please try again in a few hours.

NOTE Venue has changed: Showroom Cinema, Room Showroom 5, Sheffield

The format for the 2nd Sheffield Test Gathering:

I will be delivering a talk titled: Test is Broken, Fix It! This will be the talk that I am delivering at the Romanian Test Conference and I would greatly appreciate your honest feedback.

So what's it about?

The introduction will probably lead you to believe that my talk is going to be about QA strategic planning, or a personal account of my previous and current experiences. Well it's going to be both, but my main point will be that I want to rip apart the formalised old processes and move on with the new.

Currently you would think this is actually happening especially with all the blogs, tweets, books and courses on various forms of agile methodologies but in reality although some parts of these frameworks are viewed to be beneficial and desirable in theory, implementing the changes often fail due to lack of fully understanding what is actually involved and how long it will take to see results.

This is the main question I will be exploring in my talk: Why is it that software development tends to follow hierarchical structures, top down approaches, with smatterings of coordinated team interactions and involvement? Discuss...

If you would like to deliver a lightning talk, demo an interesting application relevant to testing or take part in anyway please contact me directly and I'll be more than happy to welcome you into the group.

Sponsorship for this event is also more than welcome.
