Porting Qt to a new Smartphone for Fun and Fame

This presentation covers rarely discussed topics of porting Qt to a new smartphone platform. Goals, strategies, and technical challenges will be discussed.

Qt is a cross-platform application framework that is widely used for developing application software with a graphical user interface.

Qt for Tizen is a community-driven port of Qt 5 to Tizen smartphones and possibly cars, tablets and notebooks. It brings the legendary programming experience of Qt to Tizen application developers.

Qt & Open Source Evangelist at Samsung Electronics

Jarosław Staniek since 1998 he develops multiplatform applications using C++ and Qt. He has 10 years of experience in open source development, worked for Open Office Polska, and other open source and Qt-oriented companies. He is founder of KDE on Windows, co-founder of Qt for Tizen, and maintainer of the Calligra/Kexi project. Since 2008 he is also active in mobile/embedded development in Samsung Poland Research & Development Center.
