Lightning Talks, Session 2

A session at Society for Technical Communication SUMMIT 2013

Wednesday 8th May, 2013

10:00am to 11:00am (EST)

This session features a series of “Lightning Talks”—five-minute talks on topics of interest to technical communicators. Each speaker gets 20 slides, displayed for 15 seconds per slide. Timing is strictly enforced. Expect presentations that are insightful, thought-provoking, humorous, and possibly controversial. Expect to see oratory skills tested, and expect to have fun. This second session also includes the hilarious “Ninja Talk,” where one person prepares the slides while another leads the presentation without knowing what slides are used.

  • Oh, the Crap I've Seen (Rhyne Armstrong, RouteMatch)
  • 101 Reasons We Love Tech Comm (Jamie Gillenwater)
  • Inspiration Redux: Move In The Right Direction (David Caruso, NIOSH)
  • Marketing Copy is Dead (Richard Hamilton, XML Press)
  • Quality Recordings: Quick and Clean (Robert Hershenow, RDH Communications)
  • The Mars Science Laboratory Tweetup From Close Up (Brenda Huettner, P-N Designs, Inc.)
  • Personal Branding in 15 Minutes a Day (Adriane Hunt, CA Technologies)
  • Ninja Talk (Alan Houser, Group Wellesley, Inc.)
