Can you change the world through the browser? The truth about building a social impact MVP

A session at State of the Browser 2013

Saturday 20th April, 2013

2:00pm to 2:35pm (GMT)

Having shipped tons of phones, operating systems for mass markets, Priya got up one fine day and naively decided she wanted to change the world on her doorstep, rather than solve social problems by selling more phones allegedly connecting people in far away countries.

She left her job and plunged head-long into rapidly prototyping Changify a mobile crowdfunding platform in HTML5 so people could start changing their world while walking down the street direct from their phone.

This session is meant to be a practical therapy session for people interested in designing mobile services and products that do good. Priya will address what it takes in terms of getting dev tools, design and user engagement going in your local community so you can test out your idea without needing to raise seed-funding. This workshop will leave you with a practical checklist - should you ever get the urge to design or develop something in the browser which has social impact.
