OSM is already a key project for GIS Pros, but its data is different. Dealing with formats, complex tagging, coverage and licensing used by OSM requires careful consideration. In this workshop Richard will introduce OSM from the standpoint of a GIS Professional, including a comparison of OSM to Commercial data. Richard will detail the ever increasing range of methods for getting your hands on OSM data including an in-depth examination of the issues and technicalities of using OSM Data in a GIS, ranging from simple downloads to building your own tile server. The workshop will also cover how the GIS Professional can contribute to OSM and at how OSM itself is changing GIS.
