SQL 2012 provides an enhanced level of high availability for SharePoint via the use of AlwaysOn technologies. This session introduces these technologies, briefly describing SQL Clustering, SQL Mirroring, and then Availability Groups. In this session we will build a live Windows Server 2012 Cluster, enable SQL 2012 Availablity Groups and then failover databases to demonstrate functionality.
Troy is an experienced SharePoint implementer, focused on SharePoint technologies since the 2003 beta. An enterprise server infrastructure designer since the mid 90s, Troy brings these skills to bear in SharePoint, designing flexible and durable solutions with the goal of enhancing performance and availability.
He is the author of the upcoming SharePoint 2013 Exam Ref (70-331) book from MS Press and a contributing author/editor of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Inside Out.
