Explore how the widespread proliferation of cheap sensors of all kinds will create a vast collective memory for the planet which will serve as a record of every cause and effect. This data will be scoured for associations that will be turned into algorithms which optimize every decision we have to make in life. And while we may not always choose to do those things, it will effectively make every person on the planet vastly wiser than the wisest person who has ever lived. It will be wisdom at processor speed. This will usher in a new golden age of humanity.
EVP of Innovation, Demand Media
Byron Reese employs his profound understanding of technical data to illuminate how the technology of today can solve many global challenges. He speaks with the unrivaled authority of an accomplished high-tech trailblazer, inventor, and entrepreneur; and the wisdom of a life-long historian. “The new challenge for humanity will not be how to chip away at the old problems,” says Byron, “but what to do in a world where we can do anything.”
Byron started his first business as an undergraduate at Rice University. He later founded and sold two companies: Hot Data, ultimately to Pitney Bowes; and PageWise, the parent company of ExpertVillage.com, to Demand Media. He currently serves as Chief Innovation Officer for Demand Media, overseeing research and development. The company holds and has filed numerous patents on Reese's work in disciplines including crowdsourcing, content creation, and psychographics. Byron has just completed the forthcoming book, “Infinite Progress: How the Internet and Technology Will End Ignorance, Disease, Hunger, Poverty, And War” on pre-order at Amazon. Don't miss his book signing from 6:00-6:20, just after his talk.
