Doctors and nurses have long used sensors (of one sort or another) to diagnose and manage illness. In a few short years, however, sensors have become increasingly important in health care as the devices have become more sophisticated and less costly. The advent of real-time data capture and analysis applications is making these new sensors increasingly useful in a range of diseases like diabetes, asthma, and heart failure.
This panel will explore the impact of sensors and the almost unlimited potential to apply these technologies to improve the health of all mankind. If you're a technologist and you want to get into the health care field this is where you want to be.

David Van Sickle, PhD, is the co-founder and CEO of Asthmapolis, a Madison, WI based company that is pioneering effective new disease management solutions for asthma and chronic respiratory disease. Previously, Van Sickle was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health and Society Scholar at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. From 2004-2006, he was an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where he was assigned to the Air Pollution and Respiratory Health Branch. Van Sickle received his PhD in medical anthropology from the University of Arizona in 2004. In 2011, he was named a Champion of Change by the White House for his work on innovation.
Sr VP, Health 2.0
Jean-Luc (“JL”) Neptune, MD MBA is Senior Vice President at Health 2.0 and Director of the Health 2.0 Developer Challenge program. In this role JL is responsible for managing Health 2.0's innovation competition ("Challenge") program which includes a multi-million dollar grant from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). In addition to managing the Challenge program, JL is responsible for building Health 2.0's Innovation Community, a network of software developers, designers, researchers, entrepreneurs and other individuals interested in driving innovation in the health industry. Outside of Health 2.0, JL is a mentor for Blueprint Health and the New York Digital Health Accelerator, and serves as a formal and informal advisor to more than a dozen health tech start-ups. Jean-Luc has co-founded two Health 2.0 startups including Healogica, an online clinical trials matching platform, and ExpertConsensus, a virtual second opinion service. JL completed his residency in internal medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York. JL is an angel investor in a number of web-based ventures and has consulted for the New York Academy of Sciences.

Mark Winter - Senior Director, Qualcomm Tricorder X PRIZE and Nokia Sensing X CHALLENGE
Mark Winter joins the X PRIZE Foundation as the Senior Director of the Qualcomm Tricorder X PRIZE and Nokia Sensing X CHALLENGE with more than thirty years of management experience in high technology, information services and health informatics. He was most recently a founder and Executive Vice President of Gluco Fitness Center, Inc. which provides wireless blood glucose and physiological monitoring of people with diabetes as part of an integrated exercise, diet and education program. Previously he served as the CEO of Simulis LLC which provided advanced clinical skills simulation-based training and assessment services that help large healthcare systems verify that their personnel follow evidence-based care practices and can safely operate medical devices.
Mr. Winter began his career in Silicon Valley providing design and marketing for Apple, Adobe Systems, Lucid and Compression Laboratories. He was later recruited to serve as V.P. of Corporate Development for Continental Graphics Holdings, Inc. which developed and operated the leading producer of customized technical documents for the world's fleet of commercial aircraft (known today as Boeing Datagraphics). Following that he served as Senior V.P. of Marketing and Corporate Development for e-SIM, Inc., a leading provider of software simulation tools for creating and testing the user interfaces of embedded systems such as cellular phones and other hand-held electronics.
Mr. Winter holds a MBA from Pepperdine University and has a BFA in Communications Design from Art Center College of Design(with Honors).
Principal Engineer, Intel Corporation
Lama Nachman is a Principal Engineer in Intel Labs Interaction and Experience Research. Her current research is focused on creating contextually aware experiences that understand users through sensing and sense making and act on that context to help with many aspects of their lives. Lama has 16 years of experience in the areas of computer architecture, context aware computing, multi-modal adaptive interfaces, embedded systems, wireless technologies and sensor networks. Previous assignments at Intel involved researching and developing the next generation of self-organizing sensor network nodes (Intel Mote Platforms). Lama has pioneered deployments of these technologies in health applications as well as various commercial and industrial settings. Other major achievements include the development and performance evaluation of microarchitecture components for the Itanium® 2 processor family. Prior to joining Intel, Lama has held senior positions at Ubicom Inc, Weave Innovations and Microsoft Corporation. Lama received her MS and BS in computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
