As digital devices and streaming make appointment based viewing less important, live sports appears to be one of the last categories that can consistently draw massive viewership numbers. How are media companies and rights holders maximizing the value of these events and serving the fans' interests on multiple platforms? Sports media reporter John Ourand of the SportsBusiness Journal discusses this topic with Jason Kint of CBSSports.com.

Jason Kint is the General Manager of CBS Interactive's sports division, including CBSSports.com, an array of premier Fantasy offerings, MaxPreps and the CBSSports.com College Network, which produces over 150 official collegiate athletic sites. CBS Interactive's portfolio of multiplatform brands appeal to connected sports fans who are always “on” and who live and breathe sports, from high school and college to pro.
A digital media veteran and self-professed Ohio State Buckeyes and New York Yankees enthusiast, Kint has led the evolution of the company into a multi-platform brand offering premier broadcast, online and mobile sports content, and has further cemented CBSSports.com's leadership position in Fantasy Sports and the live streaming of sports events. CBSSports.com streams over 20,000 live events each year, including March Madness Live, the largest live sporting event on the Internet, live online coverage of the Masters Tournament, live streaming of SEC college football and basketball, and the recent Super Bowl XLVII, which set online viewership records.
Under Kint's leadership, CBS Interactive's sports portfolio has earned a number of industry awards and taken industry-first steps, namely: CBSSports.com won its first-ever Sports Emmy in the Outstanding New Approaches – Sports Programming category in 2012; in January 2008, CBSSports.com won an Emmy at the 59th Annual Engineering and Technology Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for their work on March Madness on Demand; the company's Fantasy products have earned nine Fantasy Sports Trade Association awards; and CBSSports.com opened its fantasy sports service in 2012 to third-party developers, the first of its kind open platform in the fantasy sports industry.
Kint, a recipient of SportsBusiness Journal's prestigious 40 Under 40 award, has also been named to Broadcasting & Cable's inaugural Digital All-Stars list and The Hollywood Reporter's Digital Power 50. He has also served on the board and executive committee of the Online Publishers Association for nearly ten years.
