UX in an Engineering-Driven Organization

A session at UX Munich

Thursday 14th March, 2013

2:45pm to 3:30pm (CET)

It can be a challenge to build beautiful, usable products in an engineering-driven organization. Many engineers don't understand or appreciate the role of design: they see it as arbitrary, superficial, and a distraction from the real work.

In this talk, I'll share some of my experiences as a software engineer who works closely with designers. I'll explain why engineers feel the way they do about design, and suggest some ways you can help change their minds. I'll talk about how engineers and designers work together on the Chrome team, and discuss some of the techniques we use to make design decisions.
