Poster: Influence of Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) on Search Task Performance in a Computer Game

A session at UXPA 2013

Friday 12th July, 2013

10:00am to 11:00am (EST)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of rapid serial information presentation (RSVP) of intelligence reports on task performance using a modified version of the popular video game, Half Life 2™. Forty participants moved through a computer game to find a target avatar as quickly as possible based on pre-mission intelligence reports. Eight words per second may be too rapid for reading comprehension in this context, while RSVP of four words per second may be no different than traditional text presentation formats.
