After seven years of explosive growth of smartphones, tablets and apps the question of monetization still hangs over the industry. Investors are learning that millions of users doesn’t necessarily translate into millions of dollars in revenues. However, many members of the ecosystem are experimenting with ways to generate sustainable revenue. Most developers still rely heavily on advertising models, but there is now an array of alternatives. We will explore many of these avenues as the search for monetization continues.
