Making OOCSS, SMACSS, and SASS play nicely together

A session at Web Directions Code 2013

Wednesday 1st May, 2013

9:00am to 5:00pm (EST)

Many developers believe they need to choose between OOCSS and CSS preprocessors like SASS/Compass and LESS. Nicole believes that the best sites pair the strengths of both approaches, pulling the architecture from OOCSS and the language additions from SASS.

Whether your preferred CSS methodology is OOCSS, SMACSS, is influenced by both, or entirely different; whether your preprocessor of choice is LESS, SASS, or none at all, this workshop will help you develop more scalable, maintainable, and highly performant CSS.

It’s not about choosing a CSS library (though that can be important too). It is about building your own. In this hands-on full day workshop, you will get to test drive a custom CSS Library and see how it can help you to build not only today’s requirements, but the features that haven’t been invented yet. You’ll leave armed with the practical experience to re-architect your UI using the latest tools and techniques.

The workshop is targeted at people who already know CSS fairly well and are comfortable writing it by-hand.
