Day one and two schedule

A session at 2-Day Ember.js Training Course

This two day introductory training is taught by the author of Ember.js in Action, Joachim Haagen Skeie.

JavaScript have grown into a full-featured programming environment that is deployed on nearly every computer connected to the Internet. The market and the opportunities are endless, but you need a way to structure your web applications source code such that it is maintainable, highly testable, and will make sense to you when you revisit it in six months.

This is where Ember.js comes into play. Ember.js is positioning itself as a JavaScript framework that you can utilize to build ambitious web applications. In short Ember.js is a framework for developing web applications with a rich user interface, firmly rooted in the technologies that shape our web experience (HTML, CSS and JavaScript), while helping the developers maintain structure and control of their code through a rich object model, automatically updating templates, powerful and consistent bindings and support for rich interactive views.

Course Objectives:

  • Introduction to Ember.js and where it fits in the development stack
  • When Ember.js is right for your next ambitious web application, and when it's not
  • Core concepts; Bindings, Computed Properties, Auto-updating templates and views
  • Grunt.js for structuring and packaging your Web application
  • The Ember MVC pattern and Ember Router - The very heart of your Ember.js application keeping you code structured and loosely coupled!
  • Using Ember without Ember Data
  • Ember Data - The ORM for the web
  • How to integrate Ember with other frameworks and building custom components
  • Web Application Authentication using a third party framework
  • Testing your Ember.js application using QUnit and PhantomJS

The training will be split into secions of 90 minutes. Each section starts out with a 20-40 minute discussion about the features that we will be learning before moving on to a hands-on section that will last for the remainder of the section. In the hands-on section you will be working in groups or on your own and you will be able to ask questions and get to know the technology through first-hand experience.

In addition to lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the day. After day two, you will be invited to a proper dinner and celebration of your newly learned skills. The cost of the dinner is included in the training fee.
