Religious Freedom: What It Is and What It Is Not

A session at American Humanist Association 73rd Annual Conference

Friday 6th June, 2014

9:00am to 9:45am (EST)

Religious liberty in the United States has traditionally been interpreted as an individual’s right to worship (or not) as she or he sees fit. But lately religious conservatives have been working to redefine religious freedom as a right to ignore secular laws and discriminate against others. This talk will explain why this interpretation of religious freedom is wrong and must be resisted.
