Marist College has been using the Sakai CLE for 7 years or more. We were ready for a change in the CLE or in online pedagogy. In 2011, Marist College, along with many other Higher Education institutions were introduced to the Massive Open Online Course(MOOC) way of teaching/learning. The concept managed to infuse a buzz and level of excitement in the education world.
Speed ahead 2 years and Marist College is offering its first MOOC in Computer Science, Introduction to Enterprise Computing, which was well received with over a thousand students with a 12% completion rate!
How did we build a MOOC using the Sakai CLE? What were our challenges/successes? Come and join us and we will guide you through our journey from faculty training,course design, quality assurance, and technical testing/setup that is essential to a successful MOOC.
We will also share lessons Learned and a 10 ways to start implementing a MOOC using the Sakai CLE at your institution checklist.
