What Is a Virtual Environment and What Is a Storage Area Network?

A session at Boise Code Camp 2014

Saturday 5th April, 2014

1:40pm to 2:55pm (PST)

Session Level: 100

A basic or intermediate introduction to networks, storage area networks and VMWare virtualization. The session will include an introduction into hardware abstraction both of server and storage.

Sometime during the session the presenter will give away an HP Proliant G5 1U server with VMWare 5.0 installed and ready to go into your test lab.

There are a number of dials that your network, server and SAN administrators can 'turn' to improve performance for your applications. Come and learn more about the black box of virtual servers and walk away with new understanding and with some ideas about how you could utilize virtualization, snapshots, dev and test environments. We will also delve into storage area networks and discuss performance tuning of storage.
