BarCamp Manchester has been running for 6 years, first opening it’s doors to 100 attendees in 2008, this grew to a 2 day event with overnight stay for 250 attendees in 2009, and this BarCamp proved to be a huge success. Since then, BarCamp Manchester has run on a smaller scale, with the next 2 events running over 1 day only for 70 attendees.
In the meantime BarCamp Blackpool has risen to be the largest tech unconference in the North, hosting 1 day events for 200 attendees for the last few years. This year however there is no BarCamp Blackpool, and a Manchester Girl Geeks BarCamp held earlier in the year for 200 attendees successfully showed that there is still a huge demand for unconferences in the North.
This brings us to BarCamp Manchester 5. This year we will be staging the most successful BarCamp in Manchester’s history, with 2 full days of talks, free food, free drink, and plenty of SWAG, all funded by amazing sponsors. All you have to do is bring yourself, your ideas and be prepared to contribute. We also propose to include the overnight stay option, making this years BarCamp accessible and affordable to people all over the country who wish to travel to Manchester for this fantastic event.
