Tuesday 18th November, 2014
3:10pm to 4:40pm
This 90-minute, two-part content strategy fundamentals session covers two skills every content strategist should master: The ability to track content (behaviors, locations, states, and connections) using a content matrix, and the ability to create content solutions that will last long into the future.
Part One: Deconstructing the Content Matrix
The heart of any content project is the content matrix. But what makes a matrix come live and adapt from phase to phase, project to project? In this 45-minute presentation, Marlowe Sarah Beckley will discuss how to identify essential matrix components and she’ll provide real life examples of matrix solutions for a variety of common — and not so common — problems. Beckley will dissect matrix examples designed for a wide variety of uses from stand-alone small projects to enterprise application content management so attendees can adapt these techniques to their own content projects immediately.
A full day training workshop, "Order Out of Chaos: Content Matrix Design and Management,” will be offered on Wednesday, November 19 for those who would like to take a deeper dive into understanding and using a content matrix.
Part Two: How to Future-proof Your Content
This 45-minute session will provide attendees with high level guidelines for creating intelligent, adaptive content — future-proof content. Marlowe Sarah Beckley will deconstruct content strategy for the future into its core elements: structure, schema, standards, and size. These concepts form the basis of the technical and philosophical decisions that must be made to create a unified content strategy that will take your organizations’ content into a usable and findable future state.
