Health Care Cloud Coalition (HC3) Kick Off

Currently in read only mode, sorry about that, please try again in a few hours.

Are you storing your customers' health care data in the cloud? Do you know if you are doing so in a way that is compliant? The Final Omnibus rule has made it harder to know if you are compliant both as a Health IT provider and as a Cloud provider.

The objective of HC3 is to increase innovation and adoption of mobile and cloud computing in the health care sector by providing practices and tools to reduce regulatory uncertainty, improve customer confidence, increase government outreach, and ease the entry of innovative technology companies into the health care sector.

As the ability to store and communicate information increases exponentially the implications for the Health Care market are profound. There are over 4,000 new health technology startups in the US let alone a plethora of existing and established vendors competing to offer new technologies to hospitals, providers and patients, most of which involve some kind of hosted and/or mobile solution. But with the recent changes to HIPAA introduced last year by the Final Omnibus rule the regulatory landscape has made it more difficult for both technology vendors and cloud providers to be compliant with these regulations. The objective of HC3 is to increase innovation and adoption of mobile and cloud computing in the health care sector by providing practices and tools to reduce regulatory uncertainty, improve customer confidence, increase government outreach, and ease the entry of innovative technology companies into the health care sector.
