Tuesday 25th February, 2014
1:15pm to 2:45pm
Increasingly organisations are taking advantage of virtual team working to bring the best possible expertise to bear on solving business challenges and making informed decisions. However few organisations offer their employees training in how to manage and how to take part in virtual meetings.
In this workshop the challenges of working with team members in different places and different time zones and being influenced by different social and organisational cultures will be considered in a very interactive workshop environment. Come prepared to be blindfolded for a few minutes and if you have a Mister Men book (Faetter Slov perhaps?) please bring it along. The workshop will include the outcomes of recent research into effective virtual team management and in particular how knowledge is best shared between members of virtual teams.
The final section of the workshop will be give delegates a structure for a training programme in virtual team management that they can adapt to the requirements of their own organisation. Delegates will also receive an annotated list of books, reports and websites on virtual team management and a revised version of an Intranet Focus Research Note on virtual teams first published in 2012.
The course will be given by Martin White, who has carried out business assignments in 36 countries and been working with virtual teams for over 30 years.
