Content Strategies: Technology: What You Don't Know Can Kill Your Content

A session at Intelligent Content Conference 2014

Thursday 27th February, 2014

10:45am to 11:30am (PST)

Back in the day, you could be a great writer and transition to web content pretty easily. Throw in some bullet points and subheads, and presto! You’re writing for the web, now, baby. What? You know a bit of HTML? Name your price; you’re a content ninja.

Today, we’re standing amid a content-technology revolution. Responsive and mobile-first design have pushed the issue, but greater enterprise understanding of the capabilities of content technology is making a difference, too.

Now, if you want to lead a content team, HTML and great writing aren’t enough. You can’t serve your customer [and your employees, and your organization, and yourself] unless you can speak technology, too.

Learn what you need to know about technology to stay on top of your content. We’ll touch on several things:
· How CMSes work
· Content standards
· Languages/markups you should know
· Making friends with your database
· Acronym soup for content strategists: APIs, XML, DITA, more!
· What to do when you don’t know the answer
