You Can't Always Get What You Want – Unless You’re Illumina's End-users

A session at MadWorld 2014 Worldwide Learning Conference

Tuesday 15th April, 2014

1:30pm to 2:25pm (PST)

Illumina will demonstrate methods used to generate custom documentation for our users. Previously, customers had to review ~500 pages across 8-10 documents to learn how to use the products in our workflow. The content included background material and if-then constructs to address all the various product combinations and methods. Customers were unclear which documents to read, in what order, and which if-then scenarios applied to them. To turn this burden into a competitive advantage, we developed a Custom Documentation tool based on our Flare content. This tool provides a GUI for customers to select the products and methods they use. The selections are fed to Flare as a custom-built target. The result is a single ~50-page document containing what the user needs, and nothing more. Similar methods can be used for customized service/repair documentation, OEM customizations, and more. The goal of this session is to help you envision the possibilities for your Flare content.
