Have smartphone browser apps gotten smarter?

A session at Powered by JavaScript

Wednesday 17th September, 2014

9:35am to 10:00am (CST)

Web technology has been evolving, and more features are created and implemented in browsers. Yet, developers have been "dumbing down" web for mobile.

In the beginning of last year, I showcased the capabilities of the Web platform and the real-life use cases of HTML5 in mobile by writing a camera application using W3C HTML5 standards and JavaScript. Although some of the obscure APIs may have surprised web developers how much HTML5 can do, the web app was still nowhere close to be perfect, or cross-browser compatible. Now, a year has passed since, and how have browsers been improved?
