In formative assessment, also known as assessment for learning, practitioners have identified the necessity and centrality of feedback from peers and teachers. Despite arguments in favour of feedback there is substantial debate and to some extent disagreement about how to practice ‘good feedback’ in the classroom and in other ‘lifelong learning arenas’.
