Communicating across borders – Leading an informed culture built on trust

A session at The 6th Annual Executive Officers’ Conference 2014

  • Marsali Mackinnon

While the reach and range of the Executive Officer relies
on the specific needs of each individual department, the
role demands the skill of an expert communicator and
negotiator. Responsible for smooth implementation of policy,
a strategically responsive approach to workplace culture and
a refined understanding of diverse stakeholder expectations,
the Executive Officer is called on to easily foster trust and
engagement with often complex and culturally sensitive
programs. Marsali shares her extensive experience as a
communications leader, facilitating social change overseas
and in Indigenous communities, and draws out the practical
insights to enhance your own communications toolkit. This
session looks at:
• Different techniques and channels to communicate and
influence across organisations and departments
• Talking their language – workplace lessons from
communicating across cultures
• Is ICT always the answer? Shaping your message and
delivery to achieve results
