Executive transition – Driving your own career pathways

A session at The 6th Annual Executive Officers’ Conference 2014

  • David Akers

The Executive Officer often acts with the authority of senior
management, developing critical relationships with key
stakeholders across multiple departments and
organisations. But when it comes to taking the ‘next
step’, so many can be discouraged by the lack of a clearly
defined career roadmap. Building strong networks with
influencers and decision makers can be one way to pave
the way forward. In this session, David reflects on his own
journey from Executive Officer to General Manager. This
discussion will include:
• Leveraging network relationships
• Identifying career opportunities and developing skills for
• Successfully transitioning and taking on leadership roles
