Executive Officer, bodyguard and triage nurse – Negotiating conflict and crisis and keeping out of the headlines

A session at The 6th Annual Executive Officers’ Conference 2014

  • Ian Turnbull FCPA CISA MAIPM
  • Kim Marshall
  • Geoff Kelly

The first, last and most critical line defence for any Director
worth their salt is the Executive Officer. Whether it’s
keeping the department off the front page, stemming the
barrage of information, calls and requests and strategically
directing engagement, or stepping up to have the tough
conversation, the Executive Officer must draw on a
nuanced understanding of agendas, expert communication
and judgement to make the right call, often on issues of a
sensitive nature. This expert panel discusses:
• Strategically managing sensitive information and
demands, understanding the bigger picture
• Identifying stakeholder priorities and expectations
• Handling tough conversations diplomatically
