The interim report on the national review led by Patrick McClure OAM has laid bare some of the key challenges while making preliminary recommendations on rationalising the system and recalibrating how, when and to whom welfare is provided.What are some of the greatest challenges for welfare in Australia?What are the fundamental assumptions that drive the current system which must change to enable a fairer and most rational system?What are the key principles that should guide payment reform?The Conversation and Informa Australia are pleased to present the Future of Welfare Conference. The forum seeks to examine the welfare system and the policy and reform directions for welfare in Australia. The two days will look not only at the concept of social welfare and the evolution of thinking worldwide around welfare but also at current realities and policy directions in Australia and whether this will or should reframe how we see and deliver welfare.
