Genius Hour and Global Connections

A session at Teaching and Learning in a Digital World 2014

Wednesday 20th August, 2014

1:15pm to 2:00pm (EST)

This project is pure inquiry learning.  It is suitable in any classroom from K-12.  Students explore their passions.  They take control to decide what they want to learn about, how they are going learn it, and they go for it.  From Lemonade Stands, making pizza, coding games to sewing clothing the possibilities are endless.  We will show how to get Genius Hour up and going in your classroom, how it links to the curriculum, and how it inspires inquiry based learning.

Interested in Social Media and making those connections with a "global" audience beyond the classroom? Have students who use Social Media but are disengaged in their learning? This session will share how Social Media tools can be integrated with curriculum (Language, Geography, History, Science and more) to make learning more "...". As well it will provide time to discuss openly as a group, questions about its use.
