At Roberta Bondar Public School, we pride ourselves on our representation each year at the Forest of Reading Celebration. Students read both fiction and non-fiction titles and conference with their teachers or friends to have their reading passport signed.
This past academic year, my students were made aware of the power of using Google Hangouts to record a YouTube video of their book talk. This online collaborative tool helped foster skills in communication and served as a great assessment piece. These "Hangouts" were shared with other students in the classroom and were used for a variety of purposes outside its use during Forest of Reading.
