You are sure that Agile is the right thing for your project. You see the issues; you think that new process will help to resolve them. Ok, now you need to convince others to switch the approach. Is it easy to do? No! You need to be ready for the conversation. Managers and Product Owners may see the situation differently and require the compelling reasons to start the changes.
In this talk we’ll discuss what information you need to collect, so managers will understand the reasons and see the profit. The information should be very honest, we need to know both advantages and costs and risks. Also we should pay attention to the resistance that may be unconscious (or just not discussed) and have a plan how to reduce it. One of the main mistakes of convincing others is over commitment. If you promise that team performance will be higher and costs lower, this is extremely appealing to stakeholders, but we need to know is it possible to achieve and to show people that know what we are talking about.
As the result, we’ll have the data that you need to collect and bring to stakeholders, that will start rational discussion with better chances to convince then to start those changes. Or, possibly you may understand that Agile will not bring all these advantages and you better look for something else. This is great result as well.
