oe Macleod has been working in the mobile design space since 1998 and has been involved in a pretty diverse range of projects. At Nokia he developed some of the most streamlined packaging in the world, he created a hack team to disrupt the corporate drone of powerpoint, produced mobile services for pregnant women in Africa and pioneered lighting behaviour for millions of phones. For the last four years he has been helping to build the amazing design team at ustwo, with over 100 people in London and around 180 globally, and successfully building education initiatives on the back of the IncludeDesign campaign which launched in 2013. He has been researching Closure Experiences and there impact on industry for over 15 years.

Jonathan Hassell

Director Hassell Inclusion

Professor Jonathan Hassell is a thought leader in inclusion, with 10 years experience of embedding accessibility within digital production teams, and sharing best practice at international conferences.

He is the lead author of BS 8878 – the British Standards on embedding accessibility within organisations’ business-as-usual processes – and chairs its drafting committee, IST/45.

He is the Former Head of Usability & Accessibility, BBC Future Media where he combined usability and accessibility disciplines to support user-centred-design across web, mobile and IPTV.

He has won awards for product managing: the accessibility features of BBC iPlayer, the personalisation tool MyDisplay, and the accessibility information site My Web, My Way.

Through ‘Hassell Inclusion’ he sets best-practice international standards, provides inclusion research, training and consultancy to organisations worldwide, and leads innovation projects to make inclusion easier and cheaper to implement.

Jonathan combines 18 years experience of digital customer experience, brand strategy with user experience. He has been lead within a number of high profile agencies and consultancies including Accenture, LBI and Fortune Cookie for a range of high profile clients including Asda, BT, UEFA and National Rail. He is analytical, strategic and creative with a full understanding of the user-centred design process for global projects. Jonathan most recently led engagements with KPN, Argos, RBS and Vodafone. Jonathan holds a 1st BA(Hons) Interactive Systems Design from Staffordshire University and holds awards from Creative Review to Gartner for his work. He currently leads the Service and UX team at Tribal, part of DDB.

He has expertise in enterprise architecture, database systems, business process reengineering, user experience and user centred design and operates at a executive level delivering omni-channel solutions, channel management, program management, senior recruitment and effective project teams.

Karl Smith was the Global Head of Mobility User Experience at Accenture (and UK/I Enterprise User Experience), before joining Wipro Technologies and now Wipro Digital, he has also worked with Sapient, Nitro Group (UX and concepts for award winning company site and Drambuie Pursuit), WCRS, Collective London, IRIS Worldwide, Deutsche Bank, Oxfam GB, Oxford University Press, Pearson Publishing, Tesco Bank and has taken the lead role on major projects like the UK National Census and a bespoke T+1 trading risk management system for the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Karl Smith lives near Edinburgh, Scotland and works in The City of London with directors, stakeholders and customers of multi-national enterprises across all verticals and technology stacks whose focus is on new concepts and capabilities that drive customer engagement, interaction and retention. These are underwritten with tailored blue sky work and project planning fitting to tight timescales, strategically correct, fully featured, useable, governable, scalable, efficient, end to end processes, applications, integrations and software systems.
