What happens when you mention the word "governance"? In many organisations, people groan. They complain about bureaucracy. They find ways to avoid being involved. That's because "governance" has been captured by the compliance industry. They're using concerns about accountability as a way in to sell their tools. It doesn't have to be that way. Governance is primarily about decision-making. Well defined governance ensures that you focus on the most important decisions, that you make these decisions in an efficient way, and that you track outcomes of decisions so that you can learn from experience. This talk will look at just what governance is and why it's important.
