Innovation Station: Makerspaces on the Move

A session at BIT15 - Bring IT,Together 2015

Thursday 5th November, 2015

4:00pm to 4:50pm (EST)

This session will describe our journey in developing a portable innovation station. Space is limited in schools these days and we feel that a mobile innovation station is one solution to engaging students in inquiry based investigations. We believe that any space can be transformed into a makerspace (classroom, hallway, gym and school library).

We are both new to the makerspace world and are excited to share our experiences as well as engage and collaborate with others.

Our presentation will be geared towards educators who are new to innovation stations as well as the curious and people who like to "play".

We will provide participants with ideas that they can use to build their own innovation station, including a list of supplies, tools, lesson ideas, helpful websites and print resources.

Student examples supporting the 6 C's of 21st century learning will also be shared.
