Our Student Voice representatives this year are members of K-Botics. KBotics is a club formed at Kingston CVI, with teacher mentorship from Mr. Kevin Woods. We will have a 45 minutes presentation from the students and Mr. Wood on Tuesday morning during breakfast that will highlight what K-Botics has been doing this year, and how they use technology to support their learning. The mission of K-Botics is to build a FIRST Robotics Competition robot through a partnership between high-school, post-secondary education, industry and community volunteers. We inspire students to pursue careers in and to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. FIRST is an international organization that was founded in hopes of inspiring young people to pursue a field in engineering. The ultimate goal is “to transform culture, making science, math, engineering and technology as cool for kids as sports are today.” K-Botics was founded in the fall of 2008, and in our history we’ve made it to the World Championships four times! Each year we have increased and diversified our membership, and had an impact on the local community.
