HashiCorp Tools in the Modern Enterprise

A session at HashiConf 2015

  • Keith Gasser

Monday 28th September, 2015

2:00pm to 2:50pm (PST)

We will discuss our adoption and experience with HashiCorp tools (spec. Vagrant, Terraform, and Consul) in Cloud/DevOps, from the perspective of a framework team providing tools to line-of-business application & feature teams throughout a large financial services enterprise. We came to Hashicorp first with a compelling business case and productionalized a tremendously successful application of Vagrant for automating layered Java (Spring) developer environments. We've since leveraged Packer for baking AWS AMI's and Docker images (with Chef Solo); we've come to love AWS deployments with Terraform (in lieu of Cloud Formation Templates); and we are enthralled with Service Discovery and Dynamic Service adaptation using Consul/Consul-Template/Registrator. We'll discuss briefly the “Izanamee" open source contribution we are making based on the Vagrant developer environment automation!
