Agile Lessons from the Martial Arts

A session at LAST Conference 2015

Friday 18th September, 2015

3:30pm to 4:10pm (EST)

Ideas like Shu Ha Ri (learn the rules, internalise the rules, transcend the rules) and kata (standardised learning exercises) have crossed over from the martial arts into Agile and Lean approaches.

Preview the slides.

Dan Prager (@agilejitsu on twitter) is an experienced Agilist, who is also a passionate martial arts practitioner.

Inevitably, Dan's experiences in the martial arts have influenced his Agile coaching, and vice versa.

What does martial arts culture teach us about respect, discipline, trust, relationships and mentoring?

Come along and find out!

Dan learns and teaches Japanese jiu-jitsu incorporating classical judo, and also studies hung kuen kung fu.

And by the way:
* Dan is co-founder of a new startup just coming out of stealth mode: Skillfire. Skillfire's ambition is to help innovative companies connect with outstanding contractors and consultants, including Agilists.
* Dan's other startup YouPatch as seen at LAST 2014 continues to help people around the world turn their photos into amazing pixel quilts.
