Cybersecurity in the Library: What you need to know

A session at LITA Forum

Friday 13th November, 2015

2:15pm to 3:00pm (CST)

The IT security landscape is changing rapidly, and keeping up with both the threats and the solutions can be daunting. For a long time, we’ve been hearing about firewalls, strong passwords, antivirus, and applying security updates. These are now the baseline practices from which we build a strong security stance. Come learn about the changes to the threat landscape and the current best-practices techniques that allow you to avoid trouble while still getting your work done. We will cover techniques like application whitelisting, unified threat management, and multi-factor authentication. We will also cover the importance of well-crafted policies and the tension between security and free inquiry.
