Dealing with Data: An Introduction to Organization & Documentation of Digital Data

A session at LITA Forum

Friday 13th November, 2015

3:30pm to 4:15pm (CST)

Collecting and exploring data is intriguing. Challenging. Mundane? Managing digital data can be dull: it’s the documentation to be written, the files to be names, the organization to be established and followed. Dealing with the day-to-day aspects of digital data requires thoughtful planning and procedures. This session will introduce best practice, tips, and tools for organizing, naming, and documenting digital data. Attendees will leave with practices they can implement on their own digital files and share with researchers wrangling with managing data—be it big or small.
