Saturday 14th November, 2015
11:30am to 12:15pm
This session focuses on the work of two libraries and a discovery vendor to improve access to collections and the success of linking to full text. Eddie Neuwirth, Proquest Workflow Solutions, will lead a panel presentation by Ken Varnum from the University of Michigan and Tammy Wolf from Arizona State University. Ken will share results from a multi-year effort to gather data on success rates of links accessed through their discovery and link resolver implementation and steps identified to improve linking. Tammy will provide usability testing results on the Summon 2.0 interface as well as the Sidebar Helper frame which the ASU Libraries implemented in the fall of 2014. Both library experiences will highlight pros and cons of various linking technologies and the need for successful vendor-client partnerships to reduce barriers to access.
