Libraries have always provided access to rare and unusual materials to their users. Today, that traditional mission can logically be extended to circulating new technologies that may be otherwise out of reach to library users. This presentation will describe a pilot program for an emerging technology loan program in an academic library setting, provide best practices for implementing a technology loan program, and share outreach strategies for engaging your user community and empowering them through technology access. The presenter will also highlight how this program can foster collaboration between diverse library departments, such as instruction, user services, cataloging, and IT.
