500 by Five: An Early Literacy Initiative

A session at 2015 Maryland Library Association & Delaware Library Association Joint Annual Conference

Thursday 7th May, 2015

9:00am to 10:00am (EST)

Calvert Library launched 500 by Five with the goal of inspiring Calvert County’s children to read at least 500 books by the age of five. This successful and easily replicable early literacy initiative has been adopted by public library systems throughout the state of Maryland. Participants will learn the nuts and bolts of implementing 500 by Five at their own library including free marketing tools and best practices for registering, tracking,
and rewarding participants. Come learn how your library can join the 500 by Five movement!
