When NoSQL and cloud becomes too slow

A session at Rubyslava + PyVo #48 (Analytics Edition)

The API at Skypicker.com does millions of searches per day and our data backend processes hundreds of GB of raw data, daily. Talk about pushing PostgreSQL writes to the limits, scaling the reads with cascading replication. How to set things up and why you need to run this on bare metal, instead of cloud. Also a short story about using Redshift instead of any NoSQL solution and a maybe a few tips for Vertica.
