Service Oriented Architecture is making a comeback in web applications development right now. Buzzwords like “micro-services” are cropping up and engineers at many companies are working to take monolithic applications and break them out into smaller pieces. When everything is a service you can seamlessly compose together internal and external services (like Twilio) because each service is treated the same.
New technologies like Docker and Amazon Web Services make it possible to create new services and deploy code to those services with the click of a button — tasks that have been much more cumbersome and complicated in the past. This talk will walk through how I built a one-click deploy system using the AWS API and Docker images to quickly and easily create new web services.
